This course is taught by Andrew Mathis, a permaculture educator and practitioner in the Fredericton area. Andrew has designed and implemented a natural pond on his own property, which he has been showing as part of the NB Food Forest Tour since 2024!

Course Description
Join us for a hands-on pond design workshop hosted at an established backyard pond that is a natural pond - one that doesn't require filters or pumps, and relies on natural processes to stay clear. This immersive day blends visioning, ecological design, and practical construction advice to help you confidently plan a pond that is beautiful, functional, and alive.

Whether you’re dreaming of a biodiversity haven, a natural swimming pond, irrigation storage, or a multi-use water feature for recreation and resilience, this workshop will guide you from inspiration to implementation.
