What payment forms can I use?

We accept credit, Shop Pay, e-transfers, or cash at pickup.

At checkout, you'll have the option of choosing either credit card or "alternative payment methods". If you do not want to pay via credit, select "Alternative payment methods", and select your method of choice.

If you choose e-transfer, please read the instructions for payment in the order confirmation email you will receive after checking out. Your order will only considered to be confirmed after payment is received.

Do you ship?

We focus on selling in-person, in New Brunswick. We are currently trying out limited shipping, only within Canada, and only for roots and bulbs (e.g., comfrey, horseradish, and garlic).

Shipping is only available in the spring (~April-May) and late fall (~October-November), and only applies to roots and bulbs. Orders will be shipped via Canada Post, with delivery times ranging from 1 to 2 weeks. For logistics reasons, we are only offering a flat shipping rate of $25. This covers a box that can contain up to 4 bundles of comfrey roots (each bundle being 10 individual roots).

If this suits your needs, great! Go ahead and pick the items you're interested in, and select the shipping option at checkout. Please note - we are not responsible for any lost or delayed orders due to incorrectly submitted address.

When will I receive my order?

The timing depends on the items you ordered:

  • Roots (like comfrey and horseradish) will be available for pickup in early spring (late April to mid-May) and late fall (~October-November).
  • Bare-root bushes and trees will be available for pickup in early spring (late April to early May).
  • Potted plants (herbaceous or woody) that were ordered in the winter or early spring will be available for pickup in late May to early June. For later orders, potted plants will be available for pickup while stock lasts. We typically sell out by mid to late June.
  • Garlic will only be available for pickup in the fall (October-November).

How do I pick up my plants?

When you check out, please select your pickup option (note that some have a surcharge).

A few days before your plants are ready, you will receive an email with the details of date, time, and location of pickup.

At this time we offer a few pickup options:

  • Kingston Peninsula
  • Rothesay
  • Fredericton
  • Miramichi

Can I come visit the nursery?

We are located on the Kingston Peninsula, NB. We open our property to visitors for food forest tours and workshops. Workshops include hands-on experience that takes us throughout the property (for pruning, collecting seeds, etc), and the tours offer a guided walk-through and discussing the different features and plants.

Our property is a private home and is not open to visitors outside of these events. We do offer pickup at our location, for the convenience of local customers, but it is typically no-contact pickup to make logistics easier.

What size pots should I expect?

All of our pots are 100% reused. Most of the pots you'll receive from us are black nursery pots. especially for larger plants. But you'll also see occasional colours, and different shapes and sizes. For every plant, we use the pot that fits that plants' roots best.

We don't think of the pot as part of the purchase - it's just a container that you'll use for a very short time to transport the plant from our nursery to your garden.

Nurseries are notorious for creating needless plastic garbage. We don't want to be like that! That's why we really push the life cycle of pots - some of your plants may indeed come in pots that are on their very last legs. or be of unexpected origin, like yogurt containers with drilled drainage holes.

Do we accept donations of empty pots? We absolutely do! That's our stock for next year's plants. Keep in mind that we cannot use hanging pots or fancy / indoor pots.

What are the details for the free plant freebie?

Since the very beginning of our nursery, we have offered one freebie for every $100 spent. Why do we offer this? Because food-producing gardens can and do benefit greatly from flowers, and because if you're spending money on plants for production of food, we'd like you to have something pretty for the soul, as well.

A few details:

  • The freebies are typically perennial flowers; the exact varieties offered change year to year and season to season. Over the years, freebies included irises, rudbeckia, various flowering stonecrops, and perennial sweet peas.
  • You can't pick out your freebie on the website.
  • If you're picking up during one of our plant sales, you'll get to choose what you'd like from the plants right in front of you.
  • If you're doing contactless pickup, we will contact you prior to pickup and provide you with info on the options available.
  • If you're doing shipping, your freebie will be limited to seed packets, and we will contact you prior to shipping to provide you with some options.
