Thymus serpyllum. A perennial herb (hardy to zone 4). Creates a beautiful mat of shiny green leaves and purple flowers that hum with bees and bumblebees throughout the summer. The plant grows to a maximum height of 6'' and flowers between June and August. A wonderful ornamental plant, attracts pollinators, covers patches of bare soil between other perennials, or beautifies garden paths, stairs, and just about anywhere else. Leaves and flowers can be harvested for use in cooking or for drying for tea.
