Ribes nigrum. A deciduous berry bush, hardy to zone 3. Berries are dark-purple, almost black. Berries can be eaten as-is off the bush, processed into smoothies, jams, jellies, or syrup, made into cakes and pies. Freeze extremely well for later use. These bushes grow up to 5 ft in height and 4-5 ft in width. The bushes are very productive and hardy.
