Monarda didyma. An aromatic herb, also known as bergamot. A perennial herb, hardy to zone 4, growing to a height of 3-5 ft. The leaves can be used for making herbal teas. In addition to the aroma, the leaves possess some medicinal properties. The plant prefers full sun, but will tolerate light shade. Highly attractive to pollinators - butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. The plants will expand to form upright clumps, and are a fantastic choice for back corner in a pollinator garden or for a border along a pathway. Colours vary from light purple (in the wild variety) to bright red.
