This package will feed both birds and pollinators. All of the plants - the highbush cranberries, the milkweed, the echinacea, and the elderberry - are fantastic at attracting various pollinators. And of course the milkweed - whether common or swamp - is a great food for the beautiful Monarch butterflies! In addition, the ripe berries of both elderberries and highbush cranberries are a magnet for songbirds - from robins to waxwings. The highbush cranberry berries often stay hanging long after the first frost, feeding those migratory birds just before their long trip south.
When planting milkweed - considering your available space! Common milkweed is a fast spreader, which is great if you have lots of space, because you'll get a LOT of milkweed from just one plant in a few short years. Swamp milkweed will not spread by rhizomes, which is a great choice for small yards.
